Electromagnetic system: basic information
WThe electromagnetic theft protection system comprises:
1. security strips pasted into the books
2. electromagnetic detector installed at the library exit. Its task is to detect volumes unlawfully taken outside (detection of a non-deactivated magnetic strip which is pasted into the book)
3. device for activation and deactivation of magnetic strips which are placed on volumes and other information media.
4. manual detector is an additional device for detecting non-deactivated strips: thanks to this easy-to-use device we can avoid unpleasant moments for readers and the personnel: when the security detector detected something and we want to clarify the situation.
5. library night drop – an additional device for 24h book returns.
Labels
Magnetic strips pasted into/onto the volume create the protection of books and other media. The strips appear in two basic types: single and double-sided adhesive strips. Due to the properties of the electromagnetic system the single-sided strips are called additionally securing strips and double-sided strips, the basic strips. The strips are made in different shapes and forms.
Labels are pasted into the books:
1. double-sided ones between the leaves or near the cover
2. single-sided ones near the cover.
Other options are also possible; additional information and instructions are given during professional training.
Electromagnetic detectors installed at the library exit
We offer a wide range of detectors: depending on the library decor and individual needs.
The detector system consists of antennas, controlling computer and devices controlling the detector. The number of devices is selected individually depending on how wide the pass is which the system is to protect. The antennas are connected with electronics by special wires. The controlling computer is technologically advanced and the software installed in it means that the device adjusts to the changing electromagnetic environment by itself, meaning that a technician's intervention is not required each time.
Device for activation and deactivation of magnetic strips
We propose an activator/deactivator of the 3M company for the electromagnetic security system. This is a professional two-function device which combines both functions: activation and deactivation of magnetic strips. This model can be installed either on the counter or as an element. The device has an easy-to-use interface, ergonomic design, indicators and diodes which enable regular control of the performed work. Depending on the need and comfort of the user of the device, the volumes with pasted magnetic strips can be moved in any direction: the appropriate button has to be pressed.
Manual detector
A detector with a charger is used for detecting books taken unlawfully outside which are placed in bags, under the clothes etc. When alarmed by the security detector this manual detector is used to check and possibly clarify such a situation in a quick and discreet way.
Library night drop
The library night drop, as with the bank drop, enables contact of the user with the institution at any hour of the day, anonymously or by third parties.
By using a night drop the percentage of returns made on time is increased; however, the biggest benefit can be seen with books that are very overdue, when the stress connected with e.g. a possible penalty is avoided.
